SEWAGE STATION TO END ODORS.(Local)

Byline: Mark J. McGuire Staff writer

The foul odors that periodically invade the Sherwood Park area should dissipate to memory by later this month, when the town is scheduled to complete its new sewage pump station.

The Corliss Avenue pump station is being replaced as part of an $11.6 million project to upgrade its sewers and the Routes 9 and 20 treatment plant.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation has been to the pump station several times for reports of foul smells, the last call Aug. 25.

"There was an overflow," said town Public Works Commissioner Thomas D. DeJulio. "There was some spillage."
